Mercedes-Benz unveiled its X-Class Concept which is a preview of the German company’s upcoming midsize pickup truck. Mercedes’ first pickup truck shares its platform with the Nissan NP300 Navara. Key markets for the pickup truck include Latin America, Australia, South Africa, and Europe. It doesn’t look like there are any plans to bring the vehicle to the US.
The Mercedes-Benz Concept X-should add some luxury to the midsize pickup truck segment. The automaker unveiled two variants of the pickup truck – the Concept X-Class “powerful adventurer” and the “stylish explorer”.
Mercedes promises to offer a wide range of engines. But so far it’s only specified that the top-level one will be a diesel V6 paired with full-time four-wheel drive. With that combination, it will be able to haul 2200 lbs. and tow up to 7000 lbs. Production is currently slated to begin in late 2017.
