TVR has released an image of its new carbon fiber chassis. The chassis was designed using a process called iStream, which was conceived by McLaren F1 chief designer Gordon Murray, the chassis is said to be able to be manufactured at a significantly lower cost than usual. The rendering also shows the upcoming TVR’s Cosworth-branded engine.
TVR says over 400 deposits have been taken for the Launch Edition. 100 places are left on the list, and the advantage of signing up for a Launch Edition is that the buyer will get an iStream Carbon chassis for the same price as a standard car using the regular iStream chassis. After 500 orders have been placed, the rest of the interested buyers will have to join a waiting list, says TVR.
Murray showed off the iStream Carbon chassis for the first time at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show as the underpinnings for the Yamaha Sports Ride concept. TVR’s new coupe, has been potentially badged ‘Griffith’, won’t be unveiled and on the roads until 2017.
