The Impreza has been completely redesigned inside and out for 2017 from upgraded in-car technology and a more spacious interior to its sleek new body design. The updated model will include signature Subaru features such as Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and award-winning safety technology. The new Imprezas are the first models to use the Subaru Global Platform, which underpins all the company’s upcoming models.
Under the hood, the 2.0-liter boxer engine gets a bump from 148 horsepower to 152. The biggest improvement is in the Impreza’s handling. Subaru says rigidity has been increased by 70 percent and body roll has been reduced by 50 percent compared with the outgoing model. In the Sport model, active torque vectoring will increase corning capability.
Altogether, this sounds like an excellent starting point for a very entertaining future Impreza STI.
