Ford set off on an ambitious track of simultaneously engineering the all-new Ford GT for the street as well as for the track, in time for the 50th anniversary of its legendary 1-2-3 win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966 that handed defeat to Ferrari.
It was at the 2015 Le Mans 24 Hours that Ford’s executive chairman Bill Ford announced that the new GT supercar would return to the French circuit’s hallowed grounds in 2016 in the GTE Pro class.
With the GT’s first victory in the bag at the historic Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, we can’t wait to see how the team performs in Europe and around the world.
