DS Automobiles have unveiled the DS E-TENSE at the Geneva Motor Show. The concept is a unique creation, for people who want to give free rein to their passion for cars, without compromising on driveability or performance. The E-Tense concept shows the DS brand’s passion for cutting-edge design.
The concept is built around a carbon fiber tub with aluminum subframes mounted at each end. While a chrome spine bisects the coupe down the hood and over the roof. The exterior of the concept was inspired by jewelry and luxury watches, and comes packed with LEDs. There are indicators integrated into the roof – inspired by the 1955 DS – with full LEDs at the rear of the car.
The coupe features an electric motor that makes 402 horsepower and 381 pound-feet of torque, which would get it to 62 miles per hour in 4.5 seconds. DS claims that its lithium-ion battery would offer the equivalent of 193 miles on Europe’s mixed testing cycle.
Step inside and you’ll find a world of detail. It took DS’s upholsters 800 hours to design and build, and features a ‘watchstrap’ seat design, that sculpted steel dashboard, and toggles around the central console. The interior feature pieces by French luxury goods makers, including a leather helmet harness by Moynat. The audio system is a nine speaker effort by Focal, and there’s an actual BRM watch you can take out and wear. All of it is topped off with a 12in digital handset and 10in touchscreen.
