Faraday Future has unveiled a new modular platform and its first ever concept car. It is a fanciful science fiction race car. The concept Faraday Future launched shows the most extreme end of what the company thinks it can build using this modular platform.
It is a concept car in the purest sense, a no-holds-barred dream machine that doesn’t have to answer to the realities of daily-driver life. However and this is key the concept car is nothing like what Faraday Future eventually plans to mass-produce.
“The FFZERO1 Concept is an amplified version of the design and engineering philosophies informing FF’s forthcoming production vehicles,” said Richard Kim, head of design, Faraday Future. “This project liberated our designers and inspired new approaches for vehicle forms, proportions and packaging that we can apply to our upcoming production models.”
The single-seat race car has a rear-hinged cockpit pod, a 45-degree leaned-back driver’s seat and integrated water and oxygen supply for the driver’s helmet. Faraday Future says this four-motor concept packs more than 1000 horsepower, does 0-60 in less than three seconds, and can top 200 mph. Faraday Future say this car is fully autonomous, both on and off the racetrack.
