It’s a rare treat to see classic Formula One cars racing anywhere but a track, so watching them on the Mazda Turnpike in the Hakone Pass is absolutely sensational. The folks behind Motorhead Magazine in Japan hosted the event and this is their second Hill Climb event held on that winding stretch of road. This special event played host to a wide range of racing machines all with the sole intentions of attacking the famed road and to set the quickest time.
The unusual opportunity of a closed mountain road would be a waste for only two vehicles, and there were plenty of drivers in incredible vehicles that wanted to blast up the hill. After the vintage F1 cars got their turn, it was a Nissan GT-R and a Toyota GT86 added some tire smoke to the misty mountain air. A couple more GT-R racecars and some modern sports cars eventually joined them.
Be warned however this video features amazing camera work and cinematography from the Maihan Media Team.
