This year’s official Gran Turismo after race movie, is the ‘People’ behind the Nürburgring 24 Hour Race. The documentary delves into the fierce battles that took place on the tarmac over 24 hours and then reconstructed through the voices of the people at the Ring including drivers, team staff, course marshals and spectators at the 43rd Nürburgring 24H.
The Nürburgring 24 hour race is an extremely difficult race to win, even when a team prepares with the best machine and driver combination it can all end in an instant. Nearly 200 cars of different classes and different racing speeds will drive on the track at once for 24 hours.
The world’s most grueling touring car race; the Nürburgring 24 hour race was held from Thursday May 14th to Sunday May 17th. With changes to this year’s race with the introduction of a speed limit it meant the top teams were brought closer together due to the cap in performance, the competition was more furious than ever before, and the victor was only decided after 35 race interruptions, the most number of interruptions to be seen in years of racing.
The Gran Turismo cameras follow the W Racing Team (WRT) and their Audi R8 LMS as they battled to stand atop the podium in the most competitive 24 Hour race that the “Green Hell” had seen for many years.
