With two endurance wins at Petit Le Mans, Team Falken and its Porsche 911 RSR, are ready for the next test of endurance and stamina at the 12 Hours of Sebring. Sebring represents the 2nd round of the 2015 TUDOR United SportsCar season.
The Walker Racing team hasn’t rested since last season’s victory at Road Atlanta, according to Team Manager Phil Howard. “Our trio of drivers and dedicated crew have continued to test in Atlanta and then Sebring,” he said. “Even after Daytona, we immediately went back to test at Sebring. We wanted to cover all bases and extend the momentum we had while running well at Daytona. We intend on bringing that determination to this endurance race.”
At last year’s event Team Falken debuted its 2014 Porsche RSR. Since that time, the car has been developed upon as the only privateer 911 RSR team in North America. Driver Patrick Long noted: “The unique nature of a place with so many bumps and lots of high speed sections means that you always have to compromise with set-up. You are rarely quick and comfortable at the same time, so it really comes down to grabbing the bull by the horns. I am resting easy leading up to next weekend knowing the testing has been great. It’s an honor to be part of Team Falken.”
Added Bryan Sellers: “Sebring is my favorite event on the schedule and one as a team that we put a lot of effort into. We have had some really strong tests leading up to the race and have a good sense of where we need to be and what we need to accomplish moving forward. It is always a difficult race to get results in, but I think I speak for everyone at Falken Tire when I say we are excited and ready for the challenge.”
Wolf Henzler best summed up the team sentiment: “The 12 hours of Sebring is a highlight in my race schedule every year. Not only because there are many fans coming and camping around the circuit, but both the track and its history make it to a special event. Sebring wouldn’t be Sebring if there were no bumps and so many surface changes from concrete to asphalt and the other way ‘round on a lap. I would say Sebring is the most challenging and physical track for the cars, drivers and tires in our 2015 race calendar. I am glad we had the opportunity to come here for testing and get well prepared for the race.”
The TUDOR United SportsCar Championship will host the 63rd running of the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring fueled by Fresh From Florida at Sebring International Raceway on March 18-21.
