Williams Martini Racing ended the 2014 Formula One season in third place in the Constructors Championship in the FW36 car. The new FW37 is essentially an FW36 with a new nose structure and continued development. The FW37 is the 37th grand prix racer to come out of Sir Frank Williams’ design house.
For the 2015 season, the car features a lower nose that necessitated a redesign of the front section to improve the aerodynamics. The car is of course finished off in the iconic Martini racing livery.
Williams Martini’s Chief Technical Officer, Pat Symonds, admits that “The new front bulkhead and nose geometry had much more of an impact than we had initially anticipated and the effect on the aero was profound. The team have worked hard on pulling back the deficit these regulations have made for us.”
Powering the FW37 will once again be the Mercedes PU106A power unit – the same 1.6-liter V6 turbo hybrid that dominated last year’s championship.
Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas stay on as drivers and Susie Wolff remains on board as a development driver for the team.
