Chris Harris has been able to get close to the “Hoonicorn” the vehicle made famous by Ken Block in his latest offering Gymkhana 7. Chris goes into great detail into the engineering that went into this 845-horsepower, all-wheel-drive, tire-slaying beast.
The heart of the Hoonicorn is a NASCAR based 410 cubic-inch Roush Yates Ford V8, breathing through eight individual throttle bodies. All that power is channeled to the rear and front wheels through a custom built six-speed manual transmission built for rally cars entering the Dakar Rally. Once pulled the handbrake disconnects the front drivetrain, which of course the better makes it much easier to slay those tires and create those donuts.
Everything on this car is bespoke including the custom made tires: 295-width Pirelli‘s, the widest ever fitted to a Hoonigan car, and when you’re Ken Block, these have your name on them.
