After the success of Marco Wittmann in the 2014 German Touring Car Season, BMW launched the BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition in his honor. If you’ve always been a bit smitten by BMW’s multi-hued art cars, then there’s a good chance you’ll be equally taken by its latest special edition M4.
“I am overwhelmed,” said Wittmann, given the wealth of surprises awaiting him after the season finale. “The entire season has been incredible. After all, coming into the opening race of the season here in Hockenheim, I never believed I would be standing here in the same place as the DTM champion. The BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition in my colors is the icing on the cake at the end of this outstanding year. The car looks fantastic. I can hardly wait to take it out for a drive. ”
Based on the new M4 coupe – which forms the basis for BMW’s DTM challenger as well as the series pace car – the Champion Edition is distinguished by its special livery: The orange grille frame, the matte black hood and trunk with multicolored stripes, the black stripes along its shoulder and rocker panel, and the blacked-out 19-inch wheels all to pay homage to champion Marco Wittmann’s racecar, as does special lettering on the rear windows.
Other enhancements include black front splitter and skirts, carbon front flaps and mirror caps, rear spoiler and carbon diffuser, while autographed sill plates and carbon interior trim with the car’s serial number adorn the cabin. Only 23 examples will be offered, symbolic of the number adorning the winning tin-top racer and the flank of this special edition as well.
