The new SR8 RSX is based on Radical’s signature open-cockpit design and packed with more hardcore equipment and power than ever before.
The car is powered by a bespoke 3.0-liter V8 that screams all the way past 10,00RPM. It drives 440 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels through a seven-speed sequential transmission. To make sure you can stop with all that power the SR8 RSX has six-pot calipers gripping ventilated disc brakes that are matched to a set of Dunlop SP Sport tires.
However, with the RSX, Radical is stepping outside of its hardcore track focus by offering a few creature comforts like electrical power-assisted steering. Don’t let the creature comforts fool you as the car is still very much track focused the enlarged cockpit features HANS-compatible, water-resistant bucket seats. To make sure you can record your lap times, a new AIM MXG data logger and a seven-inch TFT display are put to good use as well as onboard wifi to transmit data.
The car can also carry up to 100 liters (26 gallons) in its FIA-certified fuel cell, allowing it to stay out on the track longer between fuel stops and is perfect for endurance races. Radical also claims the engine is good for 40 hours hard running before it needs a rebuild. The whole package weighs less than 1,900 pounds, but it’ll produce nearly 2,000 lbs of downforce at speed.
