TMI AutoTech is a US based company that has been exclusively manufacturing the UK based Ariel Atom for the US market since 2008. The latest Atom to grace the TMI shelves is the Atom 3S a 365bhp turbocharged road legal go-kart.
The 3S utilizes the 2.4-litre Honda VTEC engine with a Borg-Warner turbocharger, an electric fuel pump, twin fuel filters, aluminum radiators, a sealed intake snorkel and a K&N air filter, and of course, a custom stainless steel exhaust system.
Moving away from the engine you get adjustable dampers and pushrods, a bespoke traction control system, a six-speed gearbox with a limited slip diff, an updated clutch and the option of a sequential paddle shift gearbox.
The Atom 3S races from 0-60mph in less than 2.8 seconds and it’ll go from 0-100mph in 6.7 seconds, or if you take it to the drag strip it will run a quarter mile in 10.7 seconds.
“It is more than just a horsepower figure, or drag strip time that makes me love this car,” said TMI VP Mark Swain. “It is the smooth power delivery, the sound of the turbocharger, and the relentless push back into the seat.”
And if you are looking to make the purchase it is available in the US for under $90,000. However, if you fancy something a little less eye watering you can build out your own Atom 3 starting at $64,500.
