Ken Block is back in Gymkhana 7. This is the latest installment of the Gymkhana franchise. In the episode 7, Block tackles the streets of Los Angeles in his outrageously modified Ford Mustang.
The car in question is a 1965 Ford Mustang which has had a “little” bit of work done to it by his Hoonigan Racing Division and good buddy Vaughn Gittin Jnr‘s RTR. The changes to the standard ’65 Mustang include upping the horsepower to around 845hp and 740lb ft of torque thanks to a 6.7-litre Roush Yates V8, and all that power is matted to a Sadev all-wheel-drive system and a six-speed transmission. We haven’t even started on the full tubular chassis and roll cage with the complete motorsport suspension package.
“The access to locations for this project was incredible,” said Block. “Obviously the film commission in Los Angeles is quite good and accustomed to working with projects that involve driving all the time. However this was the first and only time that anyone has done actual live-action driving and filming at the top of the Hollywood sign. Some of the permissions we had to obtain from the Department of Homeland Security were intense!”
