In April 2013, Monster Energy released the vial video “Recoil”, featuring B.J. Baldwin and his 800 horsepower Trophy Truck. The video racked up several million views and now they are back with Recoil 2. For this year’s sequel, Baldwin has turned the excitement way up. By combining high speed, huge jumps and liberal use of slow-mos. However this time he’s not racing a pretty girl, instead, international Playboy Dan Bilzerian is his nemesis.
The setting for Recoil 2 is the city streets of Ensenada Mexico, the home of the Baja 1000. Which we see in all its glory through a series of massive jumps, 360’s and huge drifts.
Brian Scotto, creative director behind the video, said: “I had always wanted to see B.J.’s Trophy Truck taken out of its natural environment (the desert) and allowed to thrash through an urban setting.
“We realized the best location was right under our noses – the start of the Baja 1000 (an event B.J. won back to back 2012-2013). The city of Ensenada loves off road racing and especially B.J. Baldwin. It offers a great hilly landscape that provided us with excellent jumps and drop offs, as well as a great mix of tarmac and dirt roads to vary the feel throughout the film,” he added.
