History was made at the culmination of the first ever Formula Drift ended in Montreal, Canada. A sellout crowd watched as drivers from Formula Drift competed against some of the top Canadian drifters. It was an opportunity for locals to run head to head with these some of the best drifters in the world. The result of these match ups was a series of absolutely epic drift battles. Not one driver held back, and every driver drifted as if they were challenging for first place.
Unfortunately the locals just missed a spot on the podium as Marc Landreville took fourth place. Marc a local Quebec native is a Formula Drift license holder so expect to see more from the Quebec local. It was the Achilles team that secured the top three spots on the podium. Kenny Moen came in third while Dean Kearney was just beaten to 1st place after a track battle of the highest caliber between himself and 2012 Formula Drift champion and inaugural Formula Drift Canada winner, Daigo Saito.
“I had a great time at Formula Drift Canada. The fans were amazing and they made us feel right at home,” said Daigo Saito. “I was excited to win the event, and to stand on the podium with my Achilles teammates, Dean Kearney and Kenny Moen!”
Overall it was a fantastic event and it brought a lot of attention to the drift scene in Montreal. Paramount Visuals covered the entire event, and it will be fully featured in their film We Ride the Streets Sideways which should be debuting in 2015 and you can find the trailer below.
