Lexus has unveiled the RC F GT3 racing car at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, with a focus on entering Group GT3 events in 2015.
With a side-exit exhaust and some software tuning, the RC F GT3 manages to squeeze an additional 90 horse power from the 5.0-liter V8 found in its road-going counterpart. The gutted and caged competition-spec interior cuts 1200 lbs from the street-legal Coupe and at a final count the RC F GT3 weighs just 2755 lbs.
“We had racing in mind when we designed it. The RC F actually uses the IS’s front suspension, along with the center section from the ISC—it’s the strongest, structurally, because it’s a convertible. Then we’ve used the GS’s multi-link setup for the rear. The underpinnings have been assembled from all of Lexus’s best,” said a Lexus Spokesperson.
Lexus says it will begin deliveries to privateer teams later this year so that the RC F GT3 can be on track for the 2015 season. We expect to see it in action in the Japan’s Super GT and Super Taikyu Endurance series, along with endurance events like the 24 hours of Nürburgring.
