Koenigsegg is celebrating its 20th birthday this year, and to honor the occasion, the Swedish specialists are creating the world’s first Megacar. The Agera One:1 is set to be the first production car with one megawatt of power (1,341 horsepower), and a power-to-weight ratio of one-to-one (kilogram to horsepower).
Koenigsegg started in 1994 when Christian von Koenigsegg made up his mind to start his own car company. His idea was to create a sports car that he felt did not currently exist and one which he believed would be desired. The CC8S was born and as a result, every Koenigsegg created since includes this simple but effective DNA and all stay true to Christian’s original vision.
The One:1 is powered by a twin-turbocharged, 5.0-liter V8 to generate the previously mentioned 1,341 hp and 1,011 pound-feet of torque. To get that power down the One:1 features a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and electronically-controlled differential to make sure all that power gets to the wheels. The One:1 also includes a 20 per cent reduction in the weight of the carbon fiber chassis.
Koenigsegg claim top speed was not a factor when creating the One:1, it says that it has a simulated top speed of around 273 miles per hour, which would make it the world’s fastest production vehicle. However, the One:1 will not be able to hold the Guinness world record for top speed as only six will be built. Instead Koenigsegg say that the One:1 is a “track focused car.”
