Recently Koenigsegg released a very short statement.
“What if we were to produce something that is clearly above the hyper car category… what would you call that class?”
Unfortunately we don’t know what to call it at this stage however it looks like we will need to come up with something as Koenigsegg have announced it is to build a car to sit above the already really hyper Agera R. The Agera ‘One:1’, the Agera One:1 will not only be the most powerful Koenigsegg ever built, but possibly the fastest car ever built.
Details at this stage are scarce, however, it is expected that the car will produce over 1300bhp and weigh in at around the same weight 1300kgs (2950 lbs). Hence the name: one horsepower for every one kilogram.
Power is expected to come from an updated version of the twin-turbocharged 5.0-litre V8 used in the Agera R; a car that currently produces 1115bhp. To put that in perspective, the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport ‘only’ makes 1184 hp using a quad-turbo 8.0-liter W-16 engine, and it weighs in at around 1900 kgs (4100 lbs). The automaker told the Wall Street Journal that the Agera One:1 will accelerate from 0-249 mph in less than 20 seconds. Koenigsegg then says that its hypercar will be able to come to a standstill from 249 mph in less than 10 seconds.
Koenigsegg will produce 100 copies of the Agera One:1, a much higher number than the original estimate of six. All will be clear come March 4th, when the car is officially unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show. The Agera One: 1 will cost about €2.1 million, or approximately $2.86 million in the U.S.
