On the race track, the Lexus LFA is still alive. In collaboration with Toyota, Gazoo Racing have built the Lexus LFA ‘Code X’ which was unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Salon. Though the Supercar’s production run of 500 ended in 2012, Code X will form part of a three car team that Toyota has announced for the Nürburgring 24hr race.
Code X has been described as an “enhanced sports car research vehicle.” The displacement increases to 5.3 litres over the standard LFA’s 4.8 litres, with power and torque “fine-tuned to better suit the demands of the Nürburgring course.” However Toyota declined to go into specifics but confirmed the car has a “full carbon frame body to enhance body-rigidity while reducing vehicle weight.”
