The Classic Sports Racing Group (CSRG) returned to the Sonoma Raceway earlier this month for the 9th annual CSRG Charity Challenge race weekend.
Vintage car racing will took center stage with more than 200 vintage racecars taking to the road course over the weekend. The event featured the Formula Car Invitational, encompassing Historic Formula One, Formula Two, Formula Atlantic and Super Vees. Also on the schedule is the V8 Thunder Challenge for Historic Trans-Am cars, Historic NASCAR, V8-powered sports cars, IMSA GTU and SCCA U2 Trans-Am /2.5 Challenge sedans up to 1972. Fans were able to see memorable makes such as Lotus, Alfa Romeo, MG, Lola, Porsche, Austin Healey, Jaguar, and others over the weekend.
Proceeds from this race weekend will benefit the Sonoma Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities, the charitable arm of Sonoma Raceway. CSRG has contributed more than $500,000 to Sonoma County youth organizations through Speedway Children’s Charities since 2002. Also on offer to benefit the charity for a $50-$250 donation, fans could take a thrilling, three-lap ride around the world famous road course in one of some thirty different participating race cars.
