The Loudon Classic is the longest-running motorcycle event in North America. During the race weekend, two-wheeled fans can enjoy three days of side-by-side racing from the professionals of the American SportBike Racing Association; the experts, amateurs and novices of the Loudon Road Race Series and the fan-favorite sidecar racers from the Sidecar Racers Association and the United States Classic Racing Association. This weekend was not only limited to bikes as the U.S. Legend Cars International also featured.
The third and final day of racing took place at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Prior to the raceing, Rainbow the Macaw Parrot attempted to set the speed standard for a tethered bird riding on a motorcyclist’s shoulder. Rainbow perched on the shoulder of her owner, Myles Bratter, whom rode down the front stretch of the speedway at a speed of 78 mph securing a new world record.

However the main race of the weekend took place on Saturday where Wood, a veteran and accomplished motorcycle racer out of Massachusetts, dominated the field to win his first Loudon Classic. “I’ve been watching this race since I was old enough to walk,” Wood said in Victory Lane. “After 20-some-odd years racing, I finally got one under my belt. I’m only 40. I’ll see if I can get a couple more before I’m done.”
Wood’s beat Tyler Sweeney, 19, of Lynn, Massauchusetts, by a couple of seconds for his win. Two-time winner Scott Greenwood, 39, of Dunbarton passed Cory Hildebrand of Derry to take third place. Hildebrand finished fourth.
