The XX Programme involves the clients of the Prancing Horse looking for pure fun on the track. Participants take part in an event package organized by Ferrari on some of the most prestigious race tracks in Europe, Asia and North America, with the direct assistance of a group of technicians, involving engineers, electricians and mechanics as well as a team of professional drivers. The special instructors provide experience, acting as consultants to fine-tune driving styles, teach the right racing line and how to develop cars’ handling. Cars in the programme can be personalized aesthetically according to the clients’ wishes.
The Ferrari FXX does not stand out simply because of the incredible performance of its 860 horsepower delivered by the 6262 cc V12 engine, but also because of the programme of technical collaboration that exists for its “owner-test drivers” who have acquired the 30 car built solely for track use. Over the life of the car it has changed due to a special research and development programme, which created the FXX Evolution. Thus, power has increased from 800 to 860 Cv at 9500 rpm, while the time needed to change gear has dropped by 20 milliseconds to 60. It also boasts a new electronic traction control system, developed with engineers from the Gestione Sportiva. Other new elements on the package include an increase in aerodynamic efficiency thanks to new rear wings, a new lip and a new rear extractor. Fifteen technicians from Maranello oversee the programme, including engineers, electronics specialists and mechanics, with all the work carried out in a truly professional manner. Of course, the owner-test drivers are free to use their own FXX at private sessions at other tracks. If they wish to do so, their cars can be kept at Maranello, with Ferrari providing the transport to events.
The 599XX, was planned as a non-homologated sporty Berlinetta for exclusive use on the race track and excluding any official competitions, represents the synthesis of highest innovations in terms of technology available in motor cars today, for intense use on the track. The 599XX has been able to lap the Fiorano circuit in a time of 1’16’’ and the Nürburgring in a time of 6 minutes and 58 seconds and it is without doubt the best sign at the 599XX’s potential.
The rev limiter is raised to 9000 rpm over the standard 599, and the engine rated for 720 hp. Weight is reduced by cutting the weight of the engine unit components, and the use of composites and carbon-fiber in body parts.
